To Killarney by Train

We packed a small bag each and said goodbye to Dublin for a couple of days to travel by train to Killarney ("Cill Airne" in Gaelic)  in County Kerry ("Ciarraige").  This was a long train ride with a change in Mallow.  As you can see, Lincoln is really getting used to traveling by train:

The view from the train revealed the cloudy, rainy and cool weather as well as the beautiful Irish countryside:

We finally arrive in Killarney during a good downpour - we are staying at the Killarney Towers Hotel:

We found a great dinner at the Porterhouse Pub nearby.  The next day was a Bank Holiday
for Ireland, so there would probably be a lot of tourists visiting Killarney on Monday.  Early the
next morning, Mark and I took a walk through Killarney before everything opened up.  The
first thing we noticed were the bicycles hanging from the electrical wires criss-crossing over the
main street:

The stores were pretty and I figured out where I would be visiting after breakfast.

After breakfast and morning shopping, we walked over to the Paddy Wagon office to catch up
with our tour to the Ring of Kerry.

  1. I notice you had lots of rain in Ireland. The city is so beautiful. I need to make it to Ireland. A friend went on a walking farmhouse tour years ago. I thought that would be a lot of fun. And why are the bikes hanging from the wires?
